Monthly meetings are held at Rockville United Methodist Church, 142 Grove St, Rockville, at 7 PM--guests welcome 

 
October 19, 2009   "Perennials for 10 Months of Bloom"  Nancy Ballek MacKinnon of Ballek's Garden Center of East Haddam shares her expertise on plant selections to prolong the growing season.
 
 
November 16, 2009   "Not Your Grandmother's Pressed Flowers"  Elaine McMahon, will lead a "hands on" demonstration of her art.
 
 
December 14, 2009   6 PM, Members' Holiday Pot Luck
 
 
January 18, 2010   "Flower Designs"   Paul Buettner of The Buettner Flower Shop in East hartford will demonstrate his award winning flower arranging tips and create some arrangements for our raffle.
 
 
February 15, 2010   "Improving Wildlife Habitat Using Native Pants"   Peter Piccone, urban wildlife biologist from DEP will share his expertise on how we can adapt our gardens to attract wildlife and provide suitable, sustainable habitats for them.
 
 
February 18-21   Connecticut Flower and Garden Show "The Spice of Life"  The Connecticut Convention Center, Hartford, CT.  Sponsored by the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.
 
 
March 15, 2010   "What's New and the Tried and True"   Chris Valley of Pride's Corner will highlight "hot" items for the upcoming gardening season as well as some old reliables.
 
 
April 19, 2010   "Native Mountain Laurel, From Woods to Garden"   Dick Jaynes of Broken Arrow Nursery in Hamden, CT, will focus on planting and care of our State flower.  He will have some 1-2 gallon plants for sale.
 
 
May 8, 2010  VGC's SPRING PLANT SALE at Sacred Heart Church Parking Lot, 555 Htfd Tnpk, Route 30, Vernon.     9-11 AM (Pouring rain date, Saturday, May 15) 
 
 
May 17, 2010   "Garden Talk"   Carol Quish from UCONN Home and Garden Center will answer gardening questions and discuss Integrated Pest Management and other garden topics.
 
 
June 21, 2010   Annual VGC Picnic at Camp Newhoca and installation of officers.  Hat's off to our first 10 years!
